Privacy notice

This notice explains how Mentis Beacon handles personal information when you use mentisbeacon.click or correspond with the reading room. It is written for visitors in English. The room operates in the Republic of Korea and follows the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

If you send the contact form or an email, we receive the name, email address, chosen session, preferred date, and message you typed. If a booking goes ahead, we also keep the confirmation email and a note of the fee agreed. We do not ask for resident registration numbers, card numbers, wallet seed phrases, or private keys. Please do not include them.

The public site does not run an analytics product and does not build a profile of your browsing. Your Accept or Reject choice on the banner is stored in localStorage on your own browser under the key mentisbeacon-cookie-consent. That value stays on the device. We do not receive it on a server.

Why we use it

We use inquiry details to answer you, to hold or release a chair, and to handle a cancellation or refund. The legal bases are your request to book a sitting (steps toward a contract) and our duty to keep a record of money received and returned.

Retention

Messages that never become a booking are kept for twelve months and then deleted. Booking notes, confirmation emails, and refund correspondence are kept for three years so we can answer a dispute about a sitting, and then deleted. If a longer hold is required by Korean bookkeeping rules for a payment we received, we keep only the payment record for that longer period.

Sharing

Staff in Goyang read the messages. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. A bank sees the transfer you send when you pay a confirmed fee, because that payment happens between you and the bank named in the confirmation email.

International transfers

The reading room is in Korea and the people who answer mail are in Goyang. Email may pass through mail servers outside Korea, depending on your provider and ours. That transit is the transfer we are disclosing. We do not move the booking file to a foreign marketing service. If a future tool would store inquiries outside Korea, we will describe it on this page before we use it.

Your rights

Under PIPA you may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and you may ask us to suspend processing, subject to records we must keep for a refund dispute or a legal duty. Email hello@mentisbeacon.click with the address you used when you wrote to us. We respond within the period Korean law requires. You may also complain to the Personal Information Protection Commission or a court of competent jurisdiction in Korea.

Children

Sittings are booked by adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this notice changes, the new text will appear on this page with the date of the change. This version is dated 21 September 2026.
