Cookies and the banner choice

A cookie is a small record a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later requests. Mentis Beacon also uses one piece of localStorage, which stays on your device and is not sent with each page request. This page says which is which.

What the reading room uses

The site needs no cookie to show the journal, the rates, or the contact form. When you press Accept or Reject on the banner, the choice is saved in localStorage under a name prefixed for this brand. Rejecting still leaves every page available. Accepting does not turn on a tracker. Both buttons only record the choice so the banner can stay hidden.

Essential storage: the banner choice, so we do not ask again on every page. Analytics cookies: none. Advertising cookies: none. We do not load an analytics script either way.

Third parties

Pages are styled with font files we host ourselves. The site does not ask your browser to fetch fonts, images, or scripts from another company. The contact form posts to a static file on this same site. If you email us, your mail provider handles that message under its own terms.

How to manage or disable storage

Use Reject on the banner if you do not want an Accept value stored. You can also remove mentisbeacon-cookie-consent in your browser’s site settings for this domain, or clear site data. The banner will show again on the next visit. Blocking localStorage does not block the reading room; the banner may simply remain visible.

Impact of disabling

If you reject the banner or clear storage, the journal, sessions, rates, and contact form keep working. You may see the banner again. No reading-room feature is withheld.
